VIU in the news: Mariners grab first overall national ranking

Being No. 1 is an honour, but it is also a burden, the Vancouver Island University Mariners women's volleyball team is all to aware of this.


The first Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association rankings were released Tuesday afternoon and the Mariners were perched in a very familiar spot - on top.


"I told them, that's a huge achievement, we've been there tons in the past 10 years but being No. 1 in the country is always something that's given to you - you haven't earned anything yet, someone else makes that up," said Mariners head coach Shane Hyde.
