Kalli Gordon has not let an injury that kept her off the golf course for eight months get in the way of having a solid season with the Vancouver Island Mariners.
The 21-year-old was named Pacific Western Athletic Association player of the week for golf on Tuesday, following a tournament win at Hazelmere Golf Club in Surrey on the weekend that placed her atop league rankings with a two-stroke lead.
Back in December, when the Parksville-born golfer was involved in a head-on car crash that re-aggravated a back injury, the outlook didn't seem as bright. "I couldn't golf," she said, recounting the events where both drivers walked away. "We both should have been really severely injured and weren't . . . My car was written off."
