Kalli Gordon has not let an injury that kept her off the golf course for eight months get in the way of having a solid season with the Vancouver Island Mariners.

The 21-year-old was named Pacific Western Athletic Association player of the week for golf on Tuesday, following a tournament win at Hazelmere Golf Club in Surrey on the weekend that placed her atop league rankings with a two-stroke lead.

Back in December, when the Parksville-born golfer was involved in a head-on car crash that re-aggravated a back injury, the outlook didn't seem as bright.
