Vancouver Island University is hosting a day-long symposium on the Cowichan Valley's food security and how it can be improved on Saturday, Oct. 20.
"A hundred years ago, Vancouver Island produced 85 per cent of its own food. What will it take to get there again?" a press release for the event asks.
Local food activists, farmers, food producers, the public, VIU students and faculty will take on this question and more at panel discussions and presentations.
