The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed how we learn, work and spend time together, and Vancouver Island University (VIU) wants people to know the University is here to help future students start down a new path.

VIU’s Be Ready for What’s Next fall recruitment campaign aims to get people thinking about their next move and new opportunities.

“We are in a time when many people are rethinking their options, taking a look at different career and educational paths, and looking for a way to get started,” says Shari Bishop Bowes, VIU’s Manager of Strategic Marketing. “There is a starting point at VIU for anyone who wants to attend university.”

VIU invites future students to have a conversation about how VIU can help them achieve their future goals

When people visit the What’s Next homepage, they will be prompted to enter a contest to win one $2,500 tuition credit prize – open to all new domestic students – and VIU will stay in touch with entrants by email with information that is important at different stages of the student journey. For example, entrants might hear about opportunities to participate in online events, access resources, get ready for application deadlines or get advice on everything from preparing for interviews to mental health and well-being from VIU experts.

“VIU is here to help you get on the path toward what’s next for you,” says Bishop Bowes. “If you’re curious about the options out there, or how to transform an interest or a dream you have into a career, we have answers and support to help you get there.”

What’s Next entrants will also be prompted to learn more about VIU programs and services, as well as what studying on Vancouver Island is like, by going to the landing page for VIU’s new digital viewbook.

“VIU is known for the support we offer students throughout their post-secondary journeys, and that starts at the beginning, when you might not know ‘what’s next’ but you’re ready to start a conversation about it,” says Bishop Bowes. “If you have questions about how VIU might be able to help you toward the future you imagine for yourself, our recruitment team is here with answers for you.”
