NANAIMO, BC – A unique art exhibition called SYNERGY that showcases the artistic talents of faculty in Vancouver Island University’s Art and Design department is on display at the Nanaimo Art Gallery until Feb. 16.
The exhibition includes art work from faculty in three distinct programs: graphic design, interior design and visual arts.
The show reflects the richness and diversity of professional artists and designers in the department, and includes new works in painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, mixed and digital media, performance, and installation.
“This latest in the series of faculty exhibitions reflects the long-standing, productive relationship between the VIU Department of Art and Design and Nanaimo Art Gallery,” says VIU art and design instructor Ellen McCluskey.
“These shows strengthen our artistic community by allowing both student artists and the public to experience the work of local university instructors in one setting.”
Featured artists include faculty members Gregory Ball, Jane Cole, Richard Conroy, Bodil Ellins, Patrick Foster, Jason Gress, Cory Harrison, Scott Leaf, Katarina Litva, Ellen McCluskey, Kevin Mazutinec, Justin McGrail, Nancy Pagé and Pamela Speight.
The Nanaimo Art Gallery is located at VIU’s Nanaimo campus, building 330, 900 Fifth Street.
The gallery is open Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm and Saturdays noon to 4 pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. For more information visit www.nanaimoartgallery.com or call 250.740.6350.
