VIU recently announced a partnership with LinkedIn Learning, giving all employees access to the LinkedIn Learning platform. This is the closest thing there is to an actual learning party, especially during COVID times.
The LinkedIn Learning educational platform takes professional and personal development to the next level, with 16,000 online courses that create the opportunity for you to learn at your own pace, at your own schedule, following your own interests. Discover and develop business, technology-related, and creative skills through expert-led course videos related to your field and your interests. You can also explore personal development opportunities such as meditation, mindfulness, relationship communication skills, personal finance education and more.
There are opportunities within the platform to learn as a group, making it easy for you to connect with your colleagues to take on the same skill enhancements. You can also take courses that provide professional certification or provide professional development hour allotments where it is required to maintain currency for industry licensing.
Early feedback to this new offering is positive with folks expressing excitement for this opportunity to learn and keep their skills fresh. Learning as you go, trying new things and expanding skillsets are all seen as a positive feature of the platform. Some popular courses amongst VIU employees in these early weeks include How to Have Fewer, Better Meetings; Body Language for Authentic Leadership; and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
Does this sound interesting, but you wonder why you weren’t invited to the learning party?
All employees will have received an invitation to their VIU email inbox inviting them to activate their LinkedIn Learning account. This invite gives each user free access to the platform and a LinkedIn account is not necessary, although it does allow for a more enhanced user experience. After accepting the invitation, follow the prompts to enter this vast world of learning opportunities.
Have you accepted the invitation and something is not working? Check out LinkedIn Learning for help in solving your problem. This is a learning party to which you will definitely want to be invited.
