New Malaspina E-biz course benefits local businesses

December 5, 2000 - 4:00pm

A new electronic business course being offered for the first time this spring at Malaspina University-College should benefit a few local businesses wanting to enter the world of e-business.

Marketing 455, E-Commerce, starts January 8 and has 64 students enrolled from the Bachelor of Arts in Business degree and the two-year Business Management diploma program.

Business instructor Michael O'Shea said, "One of the critical components of the e-commerce course for students will be the creation of an e-business website and an Internet marketing plan."

"The students will work in teams of four or five to complete e-business sites for real businesses or public organizations of any size. The benefit to the business will be a proven basic business website and an Internet marketing strategy at no cost. The students will benefit from tackling and resolving a real-world e-business problem," said O'Shea.

"This is a unique opportunity for a few selected local business or organizations to take their business on-line using the latest developments on the World-wide Web and the Internet at no cost."
