It sure hasn’t been a typical tipoff.
For Nanaimo’s Andrew Kaban, the 2011-12 basketball season is different than any he’s ever experienced.
The former Vancouver Island University Mariners star, known as Banger, is now banging and crashing the boards in Copenhagen, Denmark. Kaban is racking up the stats with his Div. 1 professional team, the Virum Vipers.
“It can be a tough transition, especially playing under a certain philosophy and a certain way of playing with certain teammates for so long,” said Kaban, who played five seasons at VIU. “It’s just a complete change but I think I’ve adapted well and I’m a student of the game, so I’m always looking to learn new things.”
