Terry Lindenthaler and Giovanna Pichel, second year graphic design students at Malaspina University-College took two of the three student design awards presented by the prestigious Society of Graphic Designers of Canada at their annual banquet held recently in Victoria.
In addition, Tom Spetter, a graduate of the graphic design program, won the professional award for computer illustration in which he competed against the best illustrators in the country.
Rick Conroy, Malaspina graphic design instructor said, "These awards mark a significant milestone for us. It means that our graphic design students are amongst the best in Canada."
The competition was juried by national and international leading designers from Vancouver, Montreal and Seattle.
The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada was founded in Toronto in 1956 and granted a federal charter in 1976 to oversee and maintain standards of professional conduct, practice and integrity with educational and professional development, and with information about the graphic design profession and its practitioners.
