Festival of Trees raffle supports VIU students

Vancouver Island University’s Festival of Trees Raffle is underway with tickets available at the Welcome Centre just outside the upper cafeteria.


The annual holiday season raffle is part of the Festival of Trees, the largest community fundraising event held by VIU’s Office of Development and Alumni. Proceeds support student awards, scholarships and bursaries.


Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Volunteers are selling tickets from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Welcome Centre which is decked out for the season with trees created by students in the Interior Design program.


Raffle tickets will also be available at the Festival of Trees public viewing days Nov. 26 and Nov. 27, 10 am to 4 pm at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.


Prizes this year include:


• iPAD 16GB, value $600


• Kitchenaid 11 piece cookset and kitchen accessories, value $525


• One of five raffle trees, value $500 each


• Shimano 8’ mooching rod combo, value $500


• Hockey Package, $425 value


• Girls and boys Supercycle 20” Dreamweaver bike with accessories, value $200 each


• Gingerbread Houses, value $100 each
