Vancouver Island University hopes to set the bar by creating Canada's biggest Nanaimo bar. Students from the university's culinary arts, professional baking and pastry arts programs will team up to try to break the record on campus on May 17 in a fundraising event with the goal to make a Nanaimo bar weighing 1,100 pounds. Yale Historic Site is putting the finishing touches to their buildings and exhibitions as they gear up for the upcoming tourist season. One of the featured exhibits is Fighting for Justice – On the Coast| Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Lil̓wat7úl, a travelling exhibition that will be available for the public to view upon opening day. It examines the history of Indigenous people and Asian Canadians and their fight for justice over the past 150 years.
