More education is needed to deal with conflicts on the trail systems in the Cowichan Valley, says VIU Professor Dr. Aggie Weighill. Parksville teen Makayla Bouletwill attend VIU starting this fall and hopes to pursue a career in athletic therapy. This summer she attended the Island Ignite camp in Victoria, which exposes young women to a career in firefighting and is run by current female firefighters. Memorial tourney honours VIU alum
The first annual Reid Davidson Memorial golf tourney aced its inaugural round at Fairwinds Golf Club in Nanoose Bay. The July 13 event was held in memory of Davidson, a 24-year-old soccer player and VIU grad who was killed in a crash in 2023. Read more in the Parksville-Qualicum Beach News.
