VIU in the news: Calm down, mussels -- Why scientists are trying to soothe stressed sentinels of the sea

Mussels can't tell us when they're stressed out. That's why a team of Vancouver Island University scientists has created a new device to speak for the bivalves.


Final verification is being carried out on a microarray, a tool designed to measure stress related changes.


Why should we care if mussels are in a state of serenity or turmoil? It matters because when they are stressed, they can die.
