Employers, high school students, alumni and members of the public are invited to come to a large career fair at Vancouver Island University’s (VIU’s) Nanaimo campus on March 25.

VIU’s Career Studio is hosting the event, which features more than 48 businesses and organizations ranging from government and health care to banking and construction industries.

“For students and members of the public, this is your chance to learn about employment opportunities in our region and beyond that can help you take your career to the next level,” said Joel Hampson, VIU’s Coordinator of Student and Employer Engagement. “Employers are getting direct access to a talented employee base – our students. It’s your chance to build brand awareness with the next generation of employees.”

The Career Studio supports VIU students and alumni with the job-seeking process, from developing resumés and cover letters to preparing for interviews and exploring potential careers. It has been organizing community-wide career fairs since 2023 as part of its activities to connect students with potential employers.

“Last spring’s career fair drew dozens of employers to interact with more than 500 attendees eager to put their skills to work in an area they are passionate about,” said Hampson. “Whether you’re looking to fill part-time or summer roles for your business, or find more long-term hires, you’ll want to be at VIU’s Spring Career Fair.”

The Career Fair is free to attend for students, alumni and members of the public, register by visiting the Spring Career Fair event page. Employers can register for a booth for a fee. If you have any questions about this event, you can reach out to CareerStudio@viu.ca.
