Happy days are ahead for Vancouver Island University graduate Jessie Paloposki. She's $5,500 richer after winning first prize in a national Weird Blame contest sponsored by 22 university bookstores across Canada. Paloposki, a graduate of VIU's Resource Management Officer Technology diploma program, completed an online survey about textbook pricing while a student at VIU last year. Her name was automatically entered in the contest and she won the grand prize - a Segway people mover. Paloposki opted for the cash instead of the Segway. She'll put the money to good use - travelling to Australia. Since graduating from VIU in June, Paloposki spent the summer and early fall working as a Conservation Officer for Alberta Parks.
