VIU Art and Design students showcase their work

April 26, 2010 - 3:09am

The dedication, creativity and talent of

Vancouver Island University Art and Design students will be on display at

several venues throughout Nanaimo as part of Progressions 2010.

For the first time, Interior Design and Graphic

Design fourth-year students will be showing their work at the Nanaimo Art

Gallery downtown. The show runs until May 8.

Additional student visual art including

paintings, ceramics, drawings, photography, and prints are showcased at the

Nanaimo Art Gallery on campus and the Visual and Applied Arts Building (B325).

Graphic design students’ work featuring posters,

ads, and book covers, and interior design students’ floor plan displays are

featured in the Malaspina Theatre (B310) and the Cafeteria on campus.

“It is a poignant moment when you see art

works on the wall and all the hard work over the year come into fruition,” said

Gregory Ball, Co-chair of the Department of Art and Design, Visual Arts.

VIU students in Graphic Design, Interior Design

and Visual Arts will be honoured at the Progressions

2010 awards and celebration event

7 pm, Monday, April 26 at Malaspina Theatre on campus.

The public, students, and the entire campus

community are welcome to attend the ceremony, which is followed by the official

opening at the Nanaimo Art Gallery on campus with more displays and

refreshments in the Visual and Applied Arts Building.
