Ingrid Koenig will give a presentation on her art practice, including her recent body of work, "Navigating the Uncertainty Principle" which reinterprets abstract theories as they relate to subjective experience, at Vancouver Island University on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The Vancouver-based artist investigates physics as a lens through which one can look and speak about the world and human agency. Koenig’s research interests include black holes and other transformations of energy.
Current curriculum ventures include an artist/student-in-residence project with TRIUMF (Canada's National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics); and project collaborations with faculty and students at the University of the Arts, Berlin.
Koenig completed her Master of Fine Arts at Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Visual Art and Material Practice at Emily Carr University. She has exhibited her work in public galleries across Canada, in Europe and New Zealand.
Koenig's presentation from 6 to 7:30 pm in Building 200, Room 203 is free and open to the public.
The event, part of VIU’s Visiting Artist Series, is sponsored by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Department of Art and Design.
