February 17, 2004 - 4:00pm
A free information session will be held February 24 from 7 to 8 p.m. for people interested in teaching English overseas.
Offered by Malaspina University-College's Centre for Continuing Studies, the session will provide details about a part-time or full-time Certificate Program for Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
This non-credit certificate program prepares graduates to teach English conversation overseas through a combination of classroom instruction and practical work experience.
The program consists of four modules: an introduction to teaching overseas, teaching English conversation, observational practicum and a teaching practicum.
Jobs teaching English conversation abroad are available in a variety of settings, including private tutoring, conversation schools, large language teaching corporations, international schools, public schools, university foreign language departments, large international corporations, computer training schools, business schools, technical institutes, and more. Certain positions in some countries require a university degree, while others require a certificate.
The certificate program starts in Nanaimo on March 20 and again on July 2.
To register for the free information session call toll free 1-866-734-6252, or check out the Centre for Continuing Studies website at www.viu.ca/ccs/certificates.
