TALKS CONTINUE BETWEEN VIU AND CUPE

NANAIMO, BC – Vancouver Island University (VIU) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1858 are continuing their efforts to finalize the collective bargaining process.


The parties are continuing to make good progress towards achieving a renewed collective agreement. The parties are continuing discussions this week.


At this time, there will be no job action, and the parties have agreed to continue making no further public comment.


The next update will be made available on Thursday, November 15 after 3:00 pm, or earlier, if events warrant.


These updates will be sent to all students by email through the Registrar’s Office, and posted on the VIU website at www.viu.ca/labourupdate, CUPE’s website at www.cupe1858.org, and on Twitter at @VIUNews.
