Student wins iPod in IT contest

May 9, 2008 - 4:15am

Jeanine Huppee, a student in Malaspina's Practical Nursing program, is the lucky winner of an iPod in a contest sponsored by the Information Systems department.

Students and employees were invited to sign up for a new Emergency Messaging Service capable of delivering voice, SMS text and email messages. The new service is designed to improve efficiencies in the way the institution communicates with staff and students during emergencies.

The full system will be going live within the next few weeks. There's still time for students and staff to sign up if they have not already done so. Students can sign up through their student record page by connecting to viu.ca, and clicking on the Malaspina Students link, then clicking on Access My Student Record. Employees can sign up by connecting to viu.ca, clicking on the Employee Resources link, then clicking on the Emergency Alerts link.
