From the Provost's desk: Provost's Circle registration is open!

The first weeks of fall always bring a special energy to campus – new classes, new faces and that sharp September air. I hope your semester is off to a strong start.

This fall, you’re invited to join the Provost’s Circle – a series of small-group conversations where students and employees come together to share experiences at VIU and talk about how they can shape our future. Sessions are limited to 24 participants and will run once a week for the rest of the semester. Each will be 60 or 90 minutes, and you’ll need to register in advance.

Please sign up for just one session so that as many students as possible can take part. If your preferred session is full, you can email provostcommunications@viu.ca to be added to the waitlist. The first conversation is Wednesday, October 1 and I’d love to see some of you there.

I also want to highlight two great resources to support student learning. The Writing Centre is now part of the library portfolio, making it even easier to connect with writing tutors and explore services that can help you strengthen your academic work. And to expand support even further, VIU has partnered with Studiosity, a 24-7 online support service for study tips and live tutoring in math, science and English. Studiosity is designed to complement, not replace, on-campus supports like the Writing Centre. Learn more about Studiosity.

University life moves quickly but remember – you’re not in it alone. I hope you’ll take advantage of these opportunities, whether by joining a Provost’s Circle conversation or connecting with the many supports available to you.

Wishing you a rewarding and successful semester!

Sincerely,

Claire Grogan, PhD

Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic

Vancouver Island University
