Tom Lee Music and Yamaha Canada have donated a PA system to Malaspina University-College’s Music department.
The PA system, valued at $2,000, consists of a powered eight-channel mixer and speakers. All of the gear has been permanently installed in the music building’s performance room, which will facilitate a streamlined process for concerts and recitals.
Tom Lee representative Scot Rounding, an alumnus of the Malaspina Jazz program, has been working with Malaspina music chair Collin MacQuarrie during the program’s growth from a two-year diploma to a four-year bachelor of music in jazz studies.
“I want to support the jazz program in this transitional stage to the full jazz degree,” Rounding said. “This PA system will help free up other gear that is currently heavily tasked, so students won’t have to skip out on valuable class time to set up.”
Tom Lee is also a sponsor of the West Coast Jazz Festival - a competitive middle school, high school and university music festival held annually at Malaspina. This year’s festival takes place from April 26 to 28.
