NANAIMO, BC – Vancouver Island University (VIU) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1858 have taken a major step forward towards reaching a tentative settlement for a renewed collective agreement.
Further details will not be made public at this time, but both parties expect to have a tentative settlement for ratification by CUPE’s membership before the end of the month.
CUPE has informed VIU that there will be no further job action.
VIU and CUPE wish to thank students for their understanding and patience during this collective bargaining process, and express best wishes for success with their studies.
