Vancouver Island University (VIU) researchers, faculty and staff are eager to share their expertise with your readers, listeners and viewers. VIU’s new Experts List is now available to help media provide context and a deeper understanding about issues and events locally and globally.

The VIU Experts List is searchable by name, department, expertise and research fields. Each profile includes a photo and contact information.

“Our expert faculty and staff have deep knowledge, connections and fresh perspectives to share on a wide variety of subjects,” said Gillian Robinson, Director of Strategic Communications. “VIU faculty and researchers have expertise in issues that impact us both locally and globally, from climate change to brain injuries and species conservation.”

“I joined the VIU Experts List because I strongly believe that there are complex challenges, such as climate change and sustainability, that require informed citizens to support appropriate actions and policies to avoid more extreme climate change and live more sustainably,” said Dr. Jeff Lewis, a Geography Professor. “In the public realm, there is unfortunately a lot of misinformation, and it is important for individuals and community groups to have access to experts who can demystify the discussion and point them to credible sources of information. If we are to live more sustainably and avoid more extreme climate change, understanding and awareness are pre-requisites for meaningful action on these complex issues.”
