Share the magic of Christmas with your family and view beautifully decorated trees during Family Days at the 19th annual Festival of Trees Nov. 23 and 24 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
“Children will have tons of fun activities to enjoy during Family Days,” says Jason Nelson, chair of the Festival of Trees. “The highlight is a visit with Santa, and story time with Mrs. Claus.”
Holiday-inspired activities taking place in the Festival Grove of sparkling trees from 10 am to 3 pm both days include photos with Santa, a performance by a talented magician, musical entertainment, cookie decorating, face painting and holiday crafts.
“It’s also a chance to vote for your favourite tree, and buy a raffle ticket for a chance to take one home,” says Nelson.
Everyone in the family will enjoy the magical genius of Shayne King, “The King of Magic”, as well as music performed by the Nanaimo Community Band and the VanIsle Fiddlers. See http://www.viu.ca/festival/ for a full schedule of activities at Island Savings Family Days.
Added to the two-week Festival of Trees schedule this year is an opportunity to view the trees as they sparkle at night. Enjoy the romance and magic of the trees during Late Night Viewing from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
Admission to both Family Days and Late Night Viewing is by donation, with funds raised supporting students and learning spaces at Vancouver Island University (VIU).
