The public is invited to attend a Fairy House Surprise event at Vancouver Island University's Milner Gardens & Woodland gardens in Qualicum Beach June 20 to 22.

“The late Veronica Milner, former owner of the 70-acre estate that became Milner Gardens & Woodland, had an endearing belief in fairies," says Geoff Ball, Executive Director of Milner Gardens.

"To celebrate that, as well as International Fairy Day, we've created an annual event for the public to enjoy."

Visitors are invited stroll the gardens and try to spot fairy homes that have "magically appeared" along the forested trails, says Ball.

Guests will enjoy stopping by the heritage tea house located on the property for 'Fairy Time Tea’ ($7.95 per person) served between 1 to 4 pm.

Milner Gardens, located between Parksville and Qualicum Beach on the West Island Highway, is regarded as one of the top 10 best public gardens in Canada. Acquired by VIU in 1996, the property is used as a teaching garden.

Daily admission to Milner Gardens & Woodland is $11 for adults, $6.50 for students, and free for children 12 and under free accompanied by an adult.
