Milner Gardens & Woodland will be hosting its annual Art and Photography in the Garden event on July 21 and 22. This is an opportunity to come and mingle with local artists while they work in the beauty of this artist’s garden. Featured artists including Larry Aguilar, Christine Anne Houghton and Kristeen Verge will be working in a variety of expressive media from painting, photography, pottery and watercolour.
During the weekend, the artists will be in the garden presenting visitors with the chance to discuss and observe their technique, as well as purchase original artwork, photographs and art cards.
“Speaker Series” workshops will be presented throughout the weekend by artists such as Maureen Walker, who will be giving a free introduction to the technique of silk painting on Saturday at 2pm.
In the spirit of the festival, each artist has donated a piece of artwork to the Silent Auctions which will take place over the course of the weekend. This is an opportunity to purchase works by artists such as Margaret Bonneau and Lynn Orries. The first auction will end at 4 pm on Saturday, while Sunday’s auctions will close at 2 pm and 4 pm.
To complete this creative experience, a medley of local musicians will perform each day at the pool house and on the grand lawn as you stroll through the garden. A bistro of food and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Join us for this weekend event of inspiration at this exquisite seaside garden estate from 10 am to 5 pm each day, with the last entry to the garden at 4 pm. Weekend admission for this event is only $10 for adults and $6 for students. Members and children are free.
All proceeds from this event will go to support the continued operation of the garden and preserved woodland. Milner Gardens & Woodland is located at 2179 West Island Highway, Qualicum Beach. For more information, call 752-6153 or go to www.milnergardens.org for a complete listing of artists.
