Mariners Golf Team back in the swing…

April 9, 2003 - 5:00pm

Malaspina University-College has its Mariners Golf Team back in play thanks to the efforts of Athletic Director, Bruce Hunter; with a helping hand from the Nanaimo Golf Club.

The team has joined the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC), which is based in Washington State with the hope of developing a BC league within the next few years.

The Mariners will compete in four college competitions in Washington and BC during May leading up to the NWAACC Championship to be held in Spokane May 19 and 20.

The Nanaimo Golf Club has generously offered the use of its course to the Malaspina University-College team members for practice and two of its professional staff to coach the team.

Shown here from left to right are: Kerry Davison, NGC Head Professional and Mariners Coach, Jack Petley-Jones, Bill Selby, Darren Hill, Bill Yoachim, and Kevin Oates, NGC Assistant Professional and Mariners Coach. Missing from the photograph is team member Clayton Bannatyne.
