The CCEA is the leading association of chef educators in Canada. The conference consists of professional workshops, formal and informal information sharing, cooking demonstrations and presentations of new technologies in the food service industry.

On Saturday, the group of 50 chefs and guests will embark on a gourmet tour of Saltspring Island where they will sample fare at the Saturday Farmer’s Market in Ganges followed by lunch at the Gulf Island Secondary School. After returning to Nanaimo the group will be served dinner by the chefs and students of John Barsby Community School’s cooking program.

Malaspina Chef Alex Rennie said, “The CCEA holds a conference somewhere in Canada each year. We are honoured to be able to host this prestigious group of chefs and educators at Malaspina.”

According to Jean Paul Paterlini, Malaspina’s Food Services Manager, this is a time for Malaspina to show off the skill and expertise of its chef instructors and the students of the culinary arts program. “The food to be produced by our chefs and students during the conference will be exquisite. Everything will be done with utmost professionalism.”

CCEA was founded in 1991 to promote communication and sharing of ideas between chef educators in Canada. All provinces and territories are represented in the association sharing the mission to generate the professionalism and integrity of Canadian cuisine and hospitality services.
