James Rothoehler, a second year graphics student at Malaspina University-College, has won the Rock Award from the Graphic Designers of Canada.
The GDC Vancouver Island chapter's fourth awards night was held at the Empress Hotel in Victoria recently where Roethoehler won the top award in the students category for his presentation of a research paper, the cover of which is an impressive design of metalwork and colour photocopies.
Sharon Mah, a graduated Malaspina graphics student, won an Award of Merit for her design of an Edith Piaf CD. Sharon is now employed by Aasman Design, of Whitehorse; she was recruited straight from Malaspina last April.
