Knappett visited Malaspina’s Nanaimo campus recently to present a cheque for $5,000 as the second installment of the pledge.
Clara Belle Knappett was a dedicated teacher of mathematics in the Comox Valley, and, at the Knappett family’s request, a plaque commemorating her life and service has been placed outside Malaspina’s Math Learning Centre which is named in her honour.
Acknowledging the donation, Malaspina President Rich Johnston said, “This generous gift commemorates the life of an extraordinary educator whose teaching had a positive impact on many young people in the Comox Valley. We’re pleased and honoured that John Knappett chose Malaspina as the vehicle to pay tribute to his grandmother. This donation is of great assistance to The New Library campaign.”
Knappett Construction has built many commercial and public buildings in various locations on Vancouver Island, including several large buildings in Nanaimo.
