Happy Holidays from Interim President Dr. Dennis Johnson

Dear VIU community,

As we reach the final days of the Fall Semester, I want to extend my warmest wishes to each of you for a festive and restorative holiday season.

I hope you’re able to rest, recharge and spend time with the people who matter most. Whether you’re celebrating long-held holiday traditions or simply enjoying some downtime, I wish you a peaceful and refreshing break.

I’ll be travelling home for the holidays to spend time with family and friends, and I know many of you are also preparing to head out – some to warmer, sunnier destinations and others, like me, to colder temperatures and snow – while many will stay close to our campuses and communities. Wherever this season takes you, near or far, I wish you safe travels.

Thank you for all you bring to Vancouver Island University. I look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.

Happy Holidays, and all the very best for 2026.

Warm regards,

Dennis Johnson, PhD
Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
Vancouver Island University
