Freedom 55 Financial boosts Malaspina Library campaign

October 1, 2003 - 5:00pm

Thursday was a good day for Malaspina's New Library campaign.

Graham Calder, director, advisor and market development at Freedom 55 Financial's Nanaimo Centre, was at Malaspina to view the construction site for The New Library and to present a cheque for $25,000 to Malaspina's campaign.

Calder is a Malaspina alumnus and made the suggestion that the Malaspina New Library Campaign was a suitable candidate for the London Life Insurance Company's Community Partners program.

Calder is actively involved with Malaspina and serves on an advisory committee to develop an alumni program at Malaspina. He was thrilled when London Life told him that his application had been successful.

"Usually, these grants are made to larger, well established and widely recognized institutions. This is a real indication to me that Malaspina's reputation is growing and that our University-College is achieving recognition on a national level. We should all be really proud of Malaspina. I'm delighted to have been able to secure this support from our company."

Malaspina's Director of Community and Corporate Development, Ross Fraser, said, "Graham Calder showed a lot of faith in Malaspina and his efforts have made a big difference to our campaign. His commitment to Malaspina is very encouraging to all of us working on the campaign."

Freedom55Financial is a division of London Life Insurance Company.
