Malaspina invites community members to visit the Nanaimo campus between now and the end of May, take some free workshops and learn new skills.
“May Days is an annual event in which we offer a full month of professional development opportunities for staff, faculty and administrators, and if space permits, we open up some sessions to students and community members,” explained Nancy Randall, coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Centre.
Numerous seats are available in a wide range of workshops. Participants can learn about cedar weaving, funding opportunities for research projects, an introduction to human ethics, how to develop an online resume, and Canadian data on the web.
Sessions are facilitated by staff in the Library, Aboriginal Education department, International Education, CUPE professional development team, Campus Recreation, Human Rights, Office of Research & Scholarly Activity, the Writing Centre, the Online Development Team, and the Malaspina Teaching & Learning Centre.
A full description of workshops and specific dates and times can be found at viu.ca/maydays. To register, call Sarah de Jager at 753-3245, local 2699.
