The issue of climate change is one of the most hotly debated issues today, involving both the scientific community and the general public.
Information can often appear bewildering and contradictory, which can leave many wondering who or what to believe.
Join students and faculty from Vancouver Island University on October 19 in an informal setting for a presentation and panel discussion on the science and implications of climate change as part of VIU’s Power to Change Week, a series of events aimed at informing the community about conservation and sustainability.
“In this presentation, individuals will learn the science and implications of increasing ‘greenhouse gas’ emissions, why some popular climate myths and misconceptions are misleading, what you can do at home and work to support a more sustainable future, and what others are doing to reduce fossil fuel energy dependence,” said Dr. Erik Krogh, VIU chemistry professor and faculty sponsor of the Awareness of Climate Change through Education and Research project (ACER).
The presentation takes place at Beban Park Recreation Centre (Leisure Room), 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo on Tuesday, October 19 from 7 to 9 pm.
VIU’s Power to Change Week runs October 18 to 22. For a full schedule of activities, visit www.viu.ca/energymanagement/PowertoChange2010.asp
