David Thomas, Ph.D., Appointed VP Instruction

After a rigorous search and exhaustive series of interviews, Dr. David Thomas, presently the Dean of the Faculty of Community Studies at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta, has been selected and appointed Malaspina’s new Vice-President, Instruction. Dr. Thomas will begin his duties at Malaspina August 15, 1999.


President, Rich Johnston would like to thank all the members of the VPI Search Committee who worked long hours to formulate questions and to review curriculum vitaes, partake in interviews, open sessions and analysis.


Dr. Thomas has been the Dean of the Faculty of Community Studies at Mount Royal since 1996. 1995 to 1996 he was acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts. From 1990 to 1995 he was department Chair and instructor in the department of Economics and Political Science. From 1981 to 1989 he served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Applied Arts. Dr. Thomas began at Mount Royal in 1967 as instructor, Political Science, and served as the President of the Faculty Association, as a faculty representative to the Board of Governors and the College’s professional development office. He has numerous professional publications and sits on many different boards and community societies.
