Community partnerships are once again among the key ingredients for Vancouver Island University’s VIP Business Breakfasts.
“I’m very proud to welcome Coast Capital Savings as the title sponsor of our VIU VIP Business Breakfast Series,” says Bruce Williams, Business Breakfast chair and Manager—Community Relations/ Senior Weather Host for /A\ News Vancouver Island.
Coast Capital is sponsoring the popular VIU Foundation fundraising initiative as it expands from one event on the main campus in Nanaimo to four with additional breakfasts planned on regional campuses in the Cowichan Valley, Parksville/Qualicum and Powell River.
“We are looking forward to working with the Vancouver Island University Foundation to support students,” says Maureen Young, Manager—Community Partnerships and Investment for Coast Capital Savings. “VIU is integral to the growth of Vancouver Island’s academic knowledge base, skilled trades education and cultural resources.”

Williams values the participation of the business community in the breakfasts that raise funds for student scholarships, awards and bursaries. He notes Coast Capital’s tradition of community support.

The first breakfast in the series is on the Nanaimo campus Thursday, March 10, 7 am to 9 am. Guests will enjoy a gourmet breakfast prepared by students in VIU’s renowned Culinary Institute of Vancouver Island.
Students who have benefited from Foundation awards will be invited to breakfast to share their amazing stories. The Port of Nanaimo is sponsor for the first breakfast in the series and those who attend can expect an update on the port’s cruise ship facility.
