Where can you find original art – including paintings, prints, graphic designs on cards, posters, jewelry and more – at affordable prices? At Vancouver Island University’s Student Art & Design Sale which runs Dec. 7 from 10 am to 4 pm.
“It’s a terrific bargain,” says Art professor Jane Cole. “Art pieces will range from around $25 to $500, so there’s something for everyone. And who knows, it could be a great investment. You just might purchase a piece from someone who becomes a well-known artist.”
“This one-day-only event is not to be missed,” says Cole. “Come join the excitement, visit the university’s art studios and support the students.”
Students studying at VIU can complete a number of degree and diploma options such as the Bachelor of Arts with a Minor in Visual Art, two-year Visual Art diploma, or a two year BFA transfer program.
In the design fields, students have the option to study programs leading to a BA Major in Graphics or a Bachelor in Interior Design. As well, students can opt to take a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree (BFA) through Thompson Rivers University’s Open Learning program while studying at VIU.
The Student Art & Design Sale takes place in the Visual and Applied Arts building (325) on the Nanaimo campus. Building 325 is located across from the Nanaimo Art Gallery at 900 Fifth St. Metered parking is available in front of the Welcome Centre or in the student and visitor parking lots.
VIU’s Art & Design Department wishes to thank generous donations of local sponsors Kwik Kopy Print & Design Centre, Print Three, Island Cad Graphics and Nanaimo Daily News/Harbour City Star.
