VIU accepts return of Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Dr. Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond

University is continuing with a consultation to establish policy on Indigenous identity. Vancouver Island University (VIU) has accepted the return of an Honorary Doctorate of Laws given to Dr. Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond in 2013. VIU's Nanaimo and Cowichan campuses closed due to severe weather

Tuesday, December 20, 2022: Vancouver Island University’s  Nanaimo, Cowichan and tiwšɛmawtxw (Powell River) campuses are closed today, December 20 due to severe weather. The Parksville centre will also be closed.  Milner Christmas Magic will open tonight as previously scheduled.  Today’s exams are being rescheduled.
