The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Nanaimo added $8,000 to their Malaspina University-College student endowment fund, bringing the total to $101,000.
The fund was started in 2001, and generates two annual scholarships and a bursary for women enrolled in undergraduate programs at Malaspina.
The donation raised the endowment fund to more than $50,000. Malaspina Foundation will match the donation, bringing the new total to $101,000, exceeding the CFUW goal of $100,000.
The CFUW, active in Nanaimo for many years, has provided annual awards to women studying at Malaspina since 1972. Endowments are managed by the Malaspina University-College Foundation which coordinates all fundraising for Malaspina and its students. All gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
