The Mariners Women’s Volleyball team proved its mettle at nationals this year, beating the No. 1-ranked Elans de Garneau 3 — 1 in the finals to take home the hardware. In a hard-fought battle, VIU won the first two sets, then Garneau took the third before the Mariners won the decisive fourth set.
That's not all the Mariners won at the 2016 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s National Championships, which took place in Charlottetown, PEI, in March. Tylar Turnbull received the Most Valuable Player award for the championship; Megan Rosenlund
and Chantal Cummings were selected as First Team All-Stars and Mikayla Wagner was a Second Team All-Star.
