The Malaspina Mariners have out performed the other thirteen participating schools in the British Columbia Collegiate Athletic Association and are the 2007 Aggregate Award winners. The Aggregate award is presented to the school with the best overall results from the season.
Just recently, the Mariners won two provincial titles and three national medals, including a gold for the Men's Volleyball team and a silver at nationals, which were hosted by Malaspina.
The women's Volleyball team won the provincial title and then went on to win a bronze medal at the CCAA nationals.
In badminton, Malaspina’s women's double team of Kylee Abrahamson and Megan Yim produced a silver at provincials and a bronze at the national championships.
On April 11th the Mariners will be celebrating their accomplishments at the annual year end awards banquet held at the Coast Bastion Inn.
This is the Mariners best season in over a decade.The M's have now won the Aggregate Award five times. Come on down to gym and view the impressive trophy, which has a Nanaimo connection. The trophy was donated to the BCCAA in 1972 by former Nanaimo Mayor Frank Ney.
