The Baking Association of Canada – B.C. Chapter, is forming a new committee on Vancouver Island and they would like to invite all bakers, pastry chefs and affiliates to attend their first meeting to be held at Malaspina University-College’s Nanaimo campus on Monday, September 19.
The purpose of the inaugural event is to come together with the common desire of establishing a forum within the baking trade for a creative exchange of ideas, and to collectively promote the profession of baker and pastry chef as a skilled craft.
The meeting at Malaspina will begin at 3 pm with a tour of the facilities and then at 3:45 pm an informal panel discussion called Full Circle – The Resurgence of the Craft will cover the craft of bread making and the art of pastry and desserts. Attendees are asked to bring questions and to share experiences. At 5:15 pm there will be a buffet dinner hosted by Malaspina’s culinary arts program. Cost of the evening is $25. The BAC – BC Chapter is providing free bus transportation to and from Victoria and Duncan.
